This film focuses on Paid Leave Insurance, which is now a front and center national discussion. In early 2008, New Jersey became just the third state in the nation to enact paid family leave insurarance, a program that provides payments to workers who take time off for the specific purpose of bonding with a new child or to care for a seriously ill family member. While paid family leave in New Jersey was successful, the number of workers who benefited from the program since its implementation in July 2009 was low. This short film shows success but, recommends actions that can be taken to strengthen and improve the Paid Family Leave program in New Jersey.
